CURRENCY

CCY (Currency) is a knitwear label founded in Berlin in 2023 by designer Henriette Zimmermann. The collections are non-seasonal.

 The brand has invented its own technique, fusion. Usually, to assemble knitwear and fabric, they are sewn together. At CCY, there is no sewing: the knitwear is knitted through the fabric, each loop of yarn passed by hand through the material, one by one. And since the two materials do not stretch in the same way, the fabric wrinkles in small pleats where the knitwear passes through it. 

 All pieces are fully fashioned, meaning they are knitted directly into their final shape: nothing is cut, no waste. Production takes place on manual knitting machines in Germany or at a family-owned knitwear manufacturer in northern Italy.

 GAOPÉ chose CCY for its fusion technique and its waste-free knitwear, produced between Germany and Italy.
